China's Ministry of Transportation (MOT) announced that the overall volume of freight transported on China's railways, roads and waterways in the January-February period of the current year amounted to 6.82 billion mt, up 7.4 percent year on year. This growth rate marks a continuation of the slowdown observed in the year-on-year increase rate since October 2013.

Meanwhile, the total fixed asset investments in China's railways, roads and waterways in the first two months of the current year amounted to RMB 150.8 billion ($24.72 billion), up 17.4 percent year on year, while the year-on-year growth during the same period of 2013 was -1.2 percent. In the January-February period of the current year, the respective fixed asset investment totals for the country's railways, roads and waterways amounted to RMB 42.7 billion ($7 billion), RMB 100.4 billion ($16.5 billion), and RMB 7 billion ($1.15 billion), up 13.6 percent, up 28.8 percent, and down 42.0 percent, respectively, all year on year.
